The adventures of five Americans on an uncharted island in the South Pacific. During the American Civil War, five northern prisoners of war decide to escape, during the siege of Richmond, Virginia, by hijacking a balloon. The escapees are Cyrus Smith, a railroad engineer in the Union army (named Cyrus Harding in Kingston's version) his ex-slave and loyal follower Neb (short for Nebuchadnezzar) Bonadventure Pencroff, a sailor (who is addressed only by his surname. In Kingston's translation, he is named Pencroft) his protégé and adopted son Harbert Brown (called Herbert in some translations) and the journalist Gedéon Spilett (Gideon Spilett in English versions). The company is completed by Cyrus' dog "Top".

Far from the farthest, I landed into an alien land, Completely lost, desperate to survive. My resolution diluted in a day or two and all I could pray was a fast death. My pain was wondering as much as I were, It couldn't wake me up neither could break any more, I wasn't rock solid but a nutshell such hard that aspirations died and turned into ash. My forgiveness for an unknown source was irresponsive, much striken and desolate. Even the death didn't approach and life couldn't risk another game. Probably, too many fouls had crippled the intention to even stand by then. All I could do was search for a soul alike. Surprisingly, I found one. Such genuinity, optimism and reasons to prosper, made me gaze intuitively, while a blurry image sharpened to show myself a couple of years back. Yes, I had located my Infacy even in the fast paced rat race. While I so prone to run another mile for materialism, I forgot to exchange a glance with my long lost self. It was just a fraction of seconds when our eyes met and my alter-ego trembled, I don't know why!!! Perhaps, my past was undemanding, my present non-living and my future unforgiving.

Six friends get together in a pub for some drinks. Each and everyone of them has a different job but the one thing they have in common is their daily torturing by their wives. Every chapter is a funny naration of the things that happen to them. Nick, lawyer, 43 years old. Peet, cop, 40 years old. Jim, pharmaceutical sales man, 50 years old. George, retired teacher, 70 years old. Chris, 27 years old mathematician. Mike, taxi driver 55 years old. A light comedy for all ages of how our lovely wives make our lives a cute nightmare. What kind of funny situations are our characters thrown into every day?

David Copperfield is a fictional biography, describing the title character’s life. David narrates the novel himself. Some of the information in the novel is autobiographical and relates to Charles Dickens’s own life. David had a difficult life from the beginning. His father died before he was born. When David’s mother remarries, his stepfather is abusive and sends him off to a boarding school overseen by a cruel and abusive headmaster. One positive outcome of the school is that David makes two close friends. David’s mother dies when he is twelve, and his stepfather sends him off to live with the Micawber family in London and work in his stepfather’s warehouse. David is unhappy working at the warehouse and runs away to his Aunt Betsy. His aunt sends him to live with the Wickfield family and attend a school in Canterbury. Although he loves Agnes Wickfield, David ends up falling in love with Dora Spenlow, the daughter of an attorney who tutors David. The Wickfields’ law clerk, Uriah Heep, is revealed by David’s friends to be stealing from Mr. Wickfield. The Micawbers end up moving to Australia, while David becomes a writer. When Dora dies, David marries Agnes Wickfield.

Collection of short stories inspired by some of my dreams. Well, at least I hope they are just dreams... Κάποιες φορές, προσπαθείς απεγνωσμένα να ξεχωρίσεις τι είναι όνειρο και τι πραγματικότητα. Και κάποιες άλλες φορές, ευχεσαι να μην μάθεις ποτέ.

"The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" is a short story by American author Edgar Allan Poe about a mesmerist who puts a man in a suspended hypnotic state at the moment of death. An example of a tale of suspense and horror, it is also, to a certain degree, a hoax, as it was published without claiming to be fictional, and many at the time of publication (1845) took it to be a factual account. Poe toyed with this for a while before admitting it was a work of pure fiction in his marginalia.

Article purportedly by Jules Verne, but probably by his son. According to the editor's note at the beginning: "In the Year 2889_ was first published in the _Forum_, February, 1889; p. 262. It was published in France the next year. Although published under the name of Jules Verne, it is now believed to be chiefly if not entirely the work of Jules' son, Michel Verne. In any event, many of the topics in the article echo Verne's ideas."
